Win 95 Dial-In Problem

This may not be relevant to this list, since Portmaster seems to be working
good, but I've got a client that just can't dial in using Windows 95. He
connects but hangs up at the verifying password stage. I never see a valid
username (or any username). It then disconnects after 30 seconds or so. The
portmaster does detect PPP frames (show sessions). There are no logfile
entries.

Pretty straightforward application. Checked his username, password, H/W flow
control, modem speeds/types. Nothing works.

Interestingly, his Microsoft Network doesn't work either. Prodigy did work
for him while he had the service. AT&T Worldnet WORKS (16-bit). So, it seems
that 32-bit TCP/IP and Win95 dialer are having problems. Removed a couple of
extraneous winsock.dlls from his system, to no avail. Reinstalled dial-up
networking and the Win 95 Service Pack 1; still no good.

Another interesting note: He can't save his dialer password, even with
Microsoft Networking enabled. Its not Grayed out either. Checked the save
password box, doesn't do it. Also noted that he's got the Plus Pack in his
Win95 box too.

Any ideas?

Thanx,
