I think the moral to this story is email is too easily ignored, lost,
missed, misinterpreted, etc. If you NEED support, pick up the phone, dial
the 800 number and ask for a support person or leave a voice mail for
one...and be glad you can do that without signing up for a (expensive)
yearly contract for LiviNet. Unlike some other companies in this market,
Livingston support is still free (hmm...perhaps that's why Pat is so
unhappy...he got what he paid for? :)
Also, some people should learn some email common sense, like don't cc your
messages to everyone the last person did...be better than the last. Also,
there's no need to quote entire (lengthy) messages back and forth just to
add a few words or lines to the top or bottom. I've got this theory that
people who write new stuff at the top and quote at the bottom are too lazy
to move to the end of the message or bother to trim it.
And finally, about quoting headers and other people's .signature's...why
bother? I can see quoting the header if you want to emphasize something
in it...but not just for the heck of quoting more stuff to see who can
have the longest message that doesn't actually say anything.
Now can we go back to bitching about Portmasters and take the peanut
gallery vs Pat vs Livingston pissing match elsewhere? There's this neat
thing called private email. You can actually send a message to just the
person or few people it's intended for without broadcasting it to hordes
of people who really don't care. If you want a really huge audience, I
suggest taking this to alt.test.
If anyone's wondering...and still reading...it's been one of those weeks.
