What causes 0x08 0x01 0x7F prompt upon connection to PM?

Hi all,

I connect to my ISP's Portmaster+5BRI card using an Ascend P75.
Until recently, it took about 2 sec to make the call and bring up the =
link.
Now it takes about 5 sec.
The output of debug 0x51 on the PM doesn't show anything unusual.
Looking at the WAN port of the P75 shows that:
- p75 sends LCP config request
- pm sends 3 bytes: 0x08 0x01 0x7f
- pm sends 3 bytes: 0x08 0x01 0x7f
- pm sends 3 bytes: 0x08 0x01 0x7f
- p75 sends LCP config request
- pm send LCP config request
The three 0x08 0x01 0x7f prompts from the PM seem to come=20
at about 1 sec intervals.
At this point the connection comes up normally.

I am looking for advice on:=20
- what the "0x08 0x01 0x7f" prompt might be=20
- whether you think it might be the cause of the increase in "connect =
time"
- if so, what I should reqest my ISP do to eliminate it.
- if not, what I should do to try and find the cause of the increase.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

PS: Not sure if it is related, but my ISP had the PM upgraded to
ComOS 3.3.3 recently. The increase in connect time started at
about the same time but I don't recall if it was at the same time.
