Why blame USR for poor phone lines? We have USR 33.6's here and
they are working just fine. We have had a problem with new modems not
working though, sending them back for replacement took about 10 days.

When a customer calls to complain about their connection speed, it has
been either poor wiring at their location or noisy lines from Ameritech.
So far Ameritech has been pretty decent at getting the lines fixed at
customer's sites. Customers with 33.6 modems report a 50% connection
rate at 33.6.
