you are better off than we are, because the _official_ word from nynex in
our area is

"if it's a modem, it's _your_ problem"

NYNEX will only official guarantee voice connections.
In fact, there are many places in our area where you can't actually get a
solid connection greater than 24k. I even ran into one customer whos phone
lines are lead rather than copper. He has problems whenever it rains.
