socket 1642 is the in.pmd socket. The PMs are checking on in.pmd. If you
are not using it, then:
set all service_device rlogin
set all service_login rlogin
(rlogin could also be telnet if that is what you use).
Save all and reset all.
The ports defaul to PortMaster (in.pmd) for both.
