I have both IP and IPX running on both ether ports. IP and IPX are
running fine on the Ether0 (Novell side). IP seems to be running fine on
Ether1 (NT side). I can ping the world from either side. When I type
SHOW SAP on the PM, it only displays SAP for networks on ether0. I have
indicated IPX 802.3 on both ether ports on the PM router and I know the
network address (00000001) on the Novell side matches up between router
and server as Novell lets you know immediately if they don't.
I have installed NWlink on the NT using both 802.2 and 802.3 with an
internal network address of 00000020. I indicated 802.3 on the PM with a
ipxnet of 00000020. No SAP for ether1. I de-installed NWlink and
reinstalled the NT SAP agent with the same protocol and addresses. No
SAP for ether1.
I disconnected the NT server from ether1 and connected the Novell network
to ether1, changed the address to match the Novell network. Show SAP
indicates networks on the ether1 side. Maybe I'm wrong, but this
indicated both ether ports work with IPX for Novell. Livingston support
agreed and said the problem has to be the NT setup. They told me to get
on this user group to see if someone out there can help me with NT setup.
I bypassed the router and connected the NT to the Novell hub and I was
able to access the Novell server from the NT server. Great !!
This probably is the clue to what is probably a simple fix. When I boot
the NT and then enter the Event Viewer. I see the following error:
"\Device\NwlnkIpx was configured with an internal network of 20. The
network number conflicts with one of the attached networks. The
configured internal network number will be ignored."
Seems to be a network number problem. Am I supposed to assign the NT
network external address to 00000020? Is so, how do I do this? Am I
supposed to use the SAP agent or just NWlink on the NT?
Or do any of you have experience with this problem? Sorry this is a long
EMAIL, but I wanted to make sure you had enough info to help me.
Thanks
