here is my problem with subnetting:
My Class C is partially subnetted.
the network confgiguration:
the Old was:
Central site Grenoble
Cisco2511 194.51.221.13 with 2 wan connections
PM 2E-30 194.51.221.11
Local network of pc's
Distant site annecy
Subnet of 32 hosts: 194.51.221.128 255.255.255.224
PM 2ER-20 ether0: 194.51.221.158 255.255.255.224
Local network of pc's
Distant site Briancon
Subnet of 32 hosts: 194.51.221.160 255.255.255.224
PM 2ER-20 ether0: 194.51.221.90 255.255.255.224
Local network of pc's
The wan port on each PM 2ER:
ip unnumbered
destination negotiated ------>cisco serial 0 and serial 1
protocole ppp
They were connect through 2 leased line to the wan ports of the cisco
the only change that we've made is to set static route in the cisco for
each subnet:
ip route 194.51.221.158 255.255.255.224 -->serial 0 to annecy PM 2ER
ip route 194.51.221.160 255.255.255.224 -->serial 1 to briancon PM 2ER
Works great with no problem for distant local networks and dial-up.
But the problem comes when we made some changes:
We need one more wan port on the central site, so we replace the PM
(whith no wan port ), with the annecy's PM 2ER and the annecy PM with
Central site PM.
New Network Configuration:
Central site Grenoble
Cisco2511 194.51.221.13 with 2 wan connections
serial 0 ---> PM 2E20 annecy
serial 0 for future use
PM 2ER-30 ether0: 194.51.221.11 255.255.255.0
port W1 ---->PM 2ER Briancon
Local network of pc's
Distant site annecy
Subnet of 32 hosts: 194.51.221.128 255.255.255.224
ACC Nile ether0: 194.51.221.158 255.255.255.224 --->serial 0
PM 2E-20 ether0: 194.51.221.135 255.255.255.224
Local network of pc's
Distant site Briancon
Subnet of 32 hosts: 194.51.221.160 255.255.255.224
PM 2ER-20 ether0: 194.51.221.90 255.255.255.224
port W1 ---->PM 2ER Central site
Local network of pc's
The problem is with the point to point link to briancon and above:
on the central site grenoble:
from anywhere on the lan.
I see the PM 2ER of briancon 194.51.221.190
But i could'nt see the pc's above on the subnet ex: 194.51.221.161
on the distant site Briancon:
from the PM 2ER, i see anything on the local subnet and anything
on the central site Grenoble or subnet annecy.
The dial-up through the PM 2ER has no problem to.
But from a PC on the briancon subnet (192.54.51.221.161), i could
only see th PM 2ER(194.51.221.190).
It's curious because if i can go to th PM 2ER, i normally could see the entire
Network;
The PM has the route to the PM of the Central site.
I don't understand why.
Does the PM support partially subnetting ????
I give you the configuration of the 2 PM.
PM 2ER30 Grenoble
PM 2ER30 Briancon
Sorry with this long explanation, but it is necessary
