Radius 2.0 and Menus - autologin possible? (fwd)

Once upon a time APIS shaped the electrons to say...
> o I would like to be able to have a default menu appear
>when the modem answers which will offer a list of options
>which will login the caller on a particular host/user when one
>of the menu items is selected.

I don't believe that is possible. I'll look into it, but RADIUS menus are
meant to be sent to the NAS *after* a user has logged in. Authentication
first, then the menus handle authorization.

> o I would prefer the user not have to type any passwords or
>know any particular account names on the machine.

Sounds like you want passthru logins - no security on the NAS - but still
call RADIUS for menus. This isn't possible. RADIUS is only called if
security is on on the NAS. If you don't have security on, RADIUS won't
be contacted, hence no menus. And if security is on, then the user must
enter username and password before the NAS calls RADIUS.

> o I would like to be able to know from within the menu
>which portmaster port the call originated from, so I can direct the
>call to a particular host/user service automatically where Lynx will
>bring up a home page and the whole session will be HTML pages.

I don't understand this. Who gets the port number? You want RADIUS to
do something automatically based on port number???

> o It would also be useful if the port number could be available
>after the autolog to the host/user

Available to whom? With what system?

>space is too small .. so I had hoped to be able to use the radius 2.0
>menus to provide a detailed list of services and options.

You can, but only after they login.

> o I don't see where I can specify how to move a user seeing
>the top menu to select a particular account on a particular host
>automagically without knowing the passwords or userid on a machine.

If they have logged in on the PM via RADIUS, they get a menu. Then they
can be rlogin'd to another box, and if /etc/hosts.equiv is set they will
not need to login again.
