problems with Ascend 25-Px and 5BRI card on PM20

i'm trying to get a pc running windows 95 to connect via an ascend 25-Px
unit. according to the ascend techies, i simply have to set a bogus ip
address for the ascend and also for the pc (1 number apart in the final
octet) and the ascend is "smart" enough to take the dynamic ip-addr that
gets assigned by the livingston, and "route" the packets to the pc
has anyone gotten this working? the pc connects just fine, but doesn't
respond to 'ping', 'traceroute' hangs, etc...
