That's what we do as well, but I don't see the relationship between
doing that and secondary ethernet addresses.

I'd be interested to hear your routing approach to installing 8
Portmasters, 25 workstations, and a router on one ethernet segment,
using necessary addresses out of two /24 blocks subnetted at
255.255.255.224.
