Bad (DNS Timeouts) Connection using PPP with Adtran 2x64 ISDN Modem

Hello Portmasters,

I am currently having a problem with a particular configuration.

I have a PM2e30 with all ports setup as Network for PPP access. 25 ports
are connected to Analog modems (ZyXel) and are not having any problems
with access.

We recently purchased a Adtran 2x64 ISDN Modem that has the 2 B channels
connected to (2) serial ports. I connected the serial ports to our
Livingston. On the client end, we have a full ISDN line running off an
AT&T 7500 ISDN phone and a PC with Win 3.1 and (argh!!) Trumpet Winsock
2.1d (and 3.x).

We can connect asynchronously fine. Dial up, login, all works perfectly.

When we try to connect using PPP, we get connected, and we get a dynamic
IP address from the Livingston. HOWEVER, the first symptom is that all
DNS requests are denied/timed out (via IP and DNS trace reported by
Trumpet Winsock). This is producing a situation where NOTHING network
works since all names have to be resolved to IP addresses by the TCP/IP
applications (QVTNET, Netscape, etc).

I have put in the IP address for the URL in Netscape, and I do get a web
page at a reasonable speed. So something IS working. However, the DNS
timeouts severly limits Netscape functionality. QVTNET, the telnet
client, refuses to even come up without DNS.

Any clues? I have looked at flow control, parity, speed, word size to no
avail. If you need more hints from me, just let me know.
