The next morning, I had floods of calls with people getting strange login
prompts ("f") and not able to start up PPP.
Other users that were logged in were not getting their POP E-Mail. Mail was in
their directories, and the Popper showed them getting mail, but they never were.
Reset the ports using PMCONSOLE, and boy, did things get worse. Noticed the
same thing. Some ports would reset right away. Others would take over a
minute to reset. Some took a while before the icon changed on the port to show
a modem reset condition.
I'm running ComOS 3.3.1 but I noticed it on 3.3.2 at another ISP when he
converted to Livingston from Corollary. Wrote that one up to gremlins.
Anyway, I exited PMCONSOLE. Immediately, people started getting their E-Mail.
I telnetted into the Portmaster and reset all inactive ports that way. Worked
great. Modems initialized in 1 second they way they normally do.
Noticed processor load also dropped from 5% to its usual 1% or less. Wierd,
huh? I now just avoid PMCONSOLE unless I have to upgrade or backup. I think
there's a software leak in PMCONSOLE somewhere.
Perhaps you can telnet in, reset, look at the modem lights, and report back
to Megazone and Co.?
2) Radius and BSDI 2.1
-------------------
And an unrelated problem:
I don't know about anyone else but I've always had a problem with Radius
(1.6, 2.0) not compiling cleanly on BSDI 'less cc is changed to gcc in the
Makefile. Anyone else seen that?
compiling cleanly
