This isn't exactly generally recognized terminology. Around here,
when the telco (NYNEX) says "channelized T1", they mean AMI. For B8ZS
they say "clear channel".
The terminology USR uses for Kevin's "real channelized" is "trunk
side", as opposed to "line side", but that ignores the existence of
all-digital switches such as those used for ISDN. My own personal
preference is "(true) digital" vs. "redigitized".
Bringing this thread back closer to where it began, I think part of
the reason Livingston was surprised by the demand for channelized T
support in the PM3 is that they live among the urban elite. Their
traditional market is the smaller ISPs serving the smaller cities and
towns, places where sometimes even B8ZS trunk lines are not available
and ISDN isn't even vaporware yet.
