Correct. In the case of using a PortMaster to handle the dialup calls
to the BBS, the PM itself is the "telnet client" (i.e. users call in
using HyperTerminal or Procomm or whatever). Couldn't find a way to
make the PM do an 8-bit connection other than using rlogin. It would
be neat if there were a way to do this (is there? Anyone?)

When we set thus up, we basically set the PM's login banner to say something
to the effect of "Type BBS at the prompt for BBS access" and then set up
a user in the PM called "BBS" that caused an rlogin to the MajorBBS itself.

Users then logged in normally, since the BBS didn't recognize the PM as
any kind of trusted host or user when the connection was established.
