Call me an embittered oldtimer, but my guts knotted up when I read that
last line. I have been reading this list long enough to believe MZ knows
the difference between chips and code. Yes boys & girls, it sounds like
the paint won't even dry good on the first batch of PM3's before they
become 'legacy' products.

I seem to remember playing this game, and the rules suck. Anyone remember
USR promising to upgrade HST/V.32bis Couriers to 28.8 when it became
available and then charging more than a NEW V.34 unit when they discovered
they would have to replace all of those `upgradable' DSP chips? Not just
singling them out since so many others are guilty, but we do still have a
USR box lying (pun) around with the big red (just like on the current
Sportsters promising 56K.... hmmmmm.) sticker promising V.34
upgradability.
Please say it ain't so!
On the other hand, I guess it was a good thing we can't even think about
buying a PM3 until Channelized T1 works.... perhaps by then (if there is a
betting pool, I'll put my bet on the Feb-March timeframe) they will have
figured out what hardware they are going to be shipping. :)
Hey, we could start pools on all of the burning questions. Here's my bets:
OSPF: I'd bet on it shipping New Year's +2/-1 week (code is shipping)
Channelized T1: See above
ChoiceNet: If it does not ship by Feb 1 it won't ever. (vaporware)

Anyway, an occasional rant like this is a good thing to release stress.
Thanks for letting me vent.
