Unless they have done something dramatic in the last few weeks, the Ascend
PM3-equivalent at circa $18K was used. Ascend has a (rather good BTW)
program going where ISP's can trade in their equipment for credit. It
helps people like UUNET who need to have the latest and greatest designs
do so at a relatively reasonable price; big ISPs trade in their equipment
after a year or two, and it is resold to smaller ISP's at a fraction of
the price. I think that if you look in to it further any ISP pricing
given by Ascend is on used equipment (again, unless something has
happened in the last few weeks, as I went through this whole thing when
we found out the PM3's hadn't shipped when we wanted to buy... as it
turned out, we bought the PM3 anyway and it should be here on Monday :-)
