PM3A-2E: Callback between pm3 and cisco or ascend (fwd)

Once upon a time Livingston Portmaster List - AAA-Internetservice shaped the electrons to say...
>Callback between pm3 and cisco or ascend does not work:
>1. ascend p50 calls back, but the ppp-state-machine of pm3 seems not to be abl
> in the correct way to handle the callback, so the connection fails.

I don't understand this. I think this says:
1. PM dials P50.
2. P50 hangs up and dials the PM back.
3. Connection fails.

Can you capture a 0x51 debug from the PM-3 when the dialback connection fails?

> Further if the connections are cut down by the hand (reset S0/hang up)
> (not the idle-time-out) see the lines above (OFF, ON - reset on the
> particular pm3 port does not help).

I don't understand this - 'reset s#' doesn't work? Or it does disconnect
but then this is trouble on the port?

>2. cisco 2503i did not callback, so the outgoing connection of pm3
> does not change. (the reason is probably the wrong setting of cisco

When the PM-3 dials the Cisco it is now the Cisco's responsibility to hangup
and dialback. The PM-3 has no role in this at all. It is solely the job
of the Cisco to handle the dialback,
