I've incorporated most of the ESVA mods in my radius which is
running in single user mode. FWIW, my main radius server (486 DX2/66,
FreeBSD, db 1.85) is not at all stressed with ~6000 passwd entries &
~500 user entries & ~10,000 sessions per day.
Two important performance tips for larger user groups: 1) use a db
version to reduce the search time and 2) keep the users file as small
as possible by using DEFAULTs. When we were at ~2000 user entries (1
each for shell and ppp/slip) and linear searching, a machine of
similiar horsepower wouldn't quite make it during peak load resulting
in the "Dropping duplicate ..." warnings.
