You didn't get it. If you use the normal authentication scheme, you need
the information passed over an established ISDN connection over the B
channel.
The trick is to use the SETUP information passed over the *D* channel.
The SETUP packet includes information like caller ID and called ID. The
PM should interpret these information and pass it to RADIUS *before* a B
channel is established. Therefore, there will be no charges for the
caller if for example callback is desired.
I passed this mechanism as RFE to Livingston half a year ago. This is an
essential and basic feature of all *real* ISDN access routers. It's a
shame that no product at all developed by "big" (US) companies like
Cisco, Ascend, Shiva, Livingston, USRobotics,... is able to use the
features ISDN D channel signalling provides!
Have a look at *real* ISDN products from BinTec, NetCS and others. I know
that Europe is some steps ahead regarding ISDN. But how comes that US
companies like Livingston, who want to have a market share in Europe,
don't support real ISDN features?

(1) digital leased line support (OK, Ascend and Cisco do)
(2) MSN support (multibus configurations, well, Ciscos do partially)
(3) CLI over the D channel (--> no charge)
(4) Callback on CLI (see above)
(5) async. protocols like X.75

Please think about that.

best regards,

Frank
