We recently got a PM-3 working on our PMX-Link in Germany. Now we have
encountered a real serious routing problem.
Our network 193.197.84.0 has a 4bit ClassC subnetmasking on the
eth-interface (nm 255.255.255.240, bcast 193.197.84.15), where all local
machines are in. The rest of this net is for external dialin-users
(modem/ISDN). This is, because dynamic routing seems to be a little
instable with gated some times and that our local machines are always
reachable.
If a dialin-user logs in with IP 193.197.84.124 (nm 255.255.255.255), the
PM-3 has a local route for 193.197.84.124, but propagates a wrong route to
the ethernet: 193.197.84.112.. The routes propagated by the PM-3 *always*
loose the lower 4 bits of the IP, if the ethernet-if has 255.255.255.240
as its netmask. Isn't this a bit strange ? gated does the right thing in
such a case (RIP-1).
Also how about RIP-2 and multicast support ? Will it be supported in a
near release of ComOS ?
And at least: Are there any plans for supporting HDLC/transparent/rawIP
with the Caller-Identification ?
Thank you very much for your answers and please forgive my bad english :(
