This question has been asked quite a few times. In this document that I
found on Motorola's web page is the answer on how to connect 128K to a
Livingston form a BSP. This may also be a good piece of info to give to
you users as a how to before they get started (providing they are using the
BSP).

Hope this help, Happy New Year

Installing the BitSURFR Pro ISDN Modem

Use the following steps to install the BitSURFR Pro modem into a
Plug-n-Play PC running Windows 95:

1. Power the PC off using normal Windows 95 procedure.
2. Plug the BitSURFR Pro modem data port into an available COM port.
3. Power the PC on.
4. As Windows 95 boots, it will inform you that it has located new
hardware and will identify it as a "Motorola BitSURFR Pro".
5. After Widows 95 has booted, click the "Start" button on the "Task
Bar".

Configuring the BitSURFR Pro for Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking

This document will describe how to configure Windows 95 for Internet
or remote LAN access using the Motorola BitSURFR Pro ISDN terminal
adapter. This application is based on the TCP/IP and Dial-Up
Networking functionality built into Windows 95. It uses PPP as a
transmission protocol and can be configured to access the growing
number of Internet Service Providers who utilize synchronous PPP as
the remote dial-in connection protocol.

INF File Installation

Before configuring "Dial-Up Networking" Windows 95 must recognize and
register the BitSURFR Pro modem in the "Modems" folder. This is an
automatic process performed by Win 95 upon startup. Each Win 95 modem
device uses a unique .inf configuration file to identify itself. Refer
to the application note, "Installing the Motorola BitSURFR Pro ISDN
Terminal Adapter with Windows 95" for instructions on basic
installation. Network Protocol Installation

Networking components must be installed in Win 95 before Dial-Up
Networking can be used for Internet Access. These components are
installed under the "Network" folder found in the "Control Panel".
Insure that "Dial-Up Adapter" and "TCP/IP" are installed before
proceeding.

Dial-Up Networking Configuration

Follow the steps below to configure a Dial-Up Networking interface for
Internet or Remote LAN access.

1. Open the "My Computer" folder.
2. Open the "Dial-Up Networking" folder.
3. Select the "Connections" menu item and then "Make New
Connection..."
4. Enter a name for the connection and choose the "Motorola BitSURFR
Pro" device in the "Select a modem:" field.
5. Select the "Configure" button to set properties for the BitSURFR
Pro modem.
6. Under the "General" tab select the proper COM port you are using
and set the "Maximum speed" to be 115200.
7. Select the "Connection" tab. No changes are required for the
"Connection" and "Call preferences".
8. Select "Port Settings" and insure that the FIFO buffer option is
checked and then click "OK"
9. Select "Advanced" and insure that "Use flow control" is checked
and the flow control method is set for "Hardware (RTS/CTS)".
10. Enter the appropriate commands in the "Extra settings" field
dependent on protocol being used. Refer to the section below for
"Extra settings" field entries.
11. Select OK to accept the "Advanced Connection Settings".
12. Select the "Options" tab. No changes will be required unless a
manual login procedure is required by the host device. This will
not be required if using PPP or MLP protocols. However, if the
BitSURFR Pro modem is required to use V.120 or AIMux protocol
then the "Connection control" will likely have to be checked for
"Bring up terminal window after dialing". This will allow a
manual login after the BitSURFR Pro modem has connected using
V.120 or AIMux. Check with the host administrator to see if
manual login is required.
13. Select OK to accept the "Motorola BitSURFR Pro Properties".
14. Select "Next>" and enter the telephone number to be dialed.
15. Select "Next>" and "Finish"

"Extra settings" Field Entries

PROTOCOL "EXTRA SETTINGS" ENTRY
56K V120 %A4=3D1
64K V120 %A4=3D0
56K PPP %A2=3D95%A4=3D1
64K PPP %A2=3D95%A4=3D0
112K AIMux %A2=3D3@B0=3D2%A4=3D1
128K AIMux %A2=3D3@B0=3D2%A4=3D0
112K MLP %A2=3D95@B0=3D2%A4=3D1
128K MLP %A2=3D95@B0=3D2%A4=3D0

Notes:
V.120 is an error correcting protocol used to transmit any async data
format to a V.120 compatible device. It uses only one 56K or 64K B
channel. Most common application is for BitSURFR-to-BitSURFR type
calls.

PPP is an async-to-sync conversion protocol which allows an async
device, i.e. PC, to connect to a synchronous host, i.e. LAN router. It
uses only one B channel.

AIMux is an async rate adaptive protocol used to transmit any async
data format to another AIMux compatible device. It uses two B channels
and currently works only between two BitSURFR devices.

MLP is an async-to-sync conversion protocol which allows an async
device, i.e. PC, to connect to a synchronous host, i.e. LAN router. It
uses two B channels and conforms to RFC1717.

A new connection icon is now added to the "Dial-Up Networking" folder.
Additional configuration may be required to insure proper protocol
negotiation to the Internet Service Provider(SIP) or remote LAN.
Follow the steps below for final configuration.

1. Highlight the file created in the "Dial-Up Networking" folder.
2. Select "File" and "Properties" from the menu bar.
3. No changes are required for the telephone number entry unless MLP
protocol is used. When using MLP a second phone number is
required in the "Telephone number:" field. The second number is
the number of the second B channel to be connected and likely
will we the same as the first number. An example of the format is
"5551212&5551212". The minimum requirement for the second number
is to repeat the last digit of the first number or enter the
least significant uncommon digits. Therefore, to dial 5551212
twice the entry can be abbreviated to be "5551212&2". To dial
5551234 and 5555678 then the entry would be "5551234&5678". If
using this dial method the "Use country code and area code"
option must be unchecked. If left checked Win 95 will not retain
the & character in the dial string when dialing unless it is
manually inserted before each and every dial attempt.
4. Select the "Server Type" button.
5. Configure "Server Type" options as required for your application.
For Internet access applications the server type will be "PPP,
Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet", all "Advanced options"
unchecked, and "Allowed network Protocols:" set for TCP/IP only.
6. Select the "TCP/IP Settings". Use default settings unless
otherwise instructed by your service provider.
7. Select "OK".
8. Select "OK" at the "Server Types" window.
9. Select "OK" at the main configuration window.

Configuration for Dial-Up Networking is now complete.

Dialing

From the "Dial-Up Networking" folder double-click the icon created for
Internet or remote LAN access. The "Connect To" window will appear.
Enter the assigned user name and password for you account and then
select "Connect". The BitSURFR Pro modem will dial and connect to the
host device and start PPP or MLP negotiation automatically.
