Welcome to digital modems. Several other digital technology modems have
problems with 14.4 also. Don't know if it is related to the higher analog
frequency, that puts the carrier much closer to the top of the spectrum
rather than the middle like 28.8.

It may be more than that, like PRI coding or something else. Several of
us are running PM-3's without a single stuck BOUND modem.

This is not necessarily the PM3's fault. SLIP is supposed to have a max
MTU of 1006. Says it right there in the Livingston docs too. I was
