The easiest way to start out to with a used Portmaster is to type the
following command at the prompt: set register 0xffff 0x0102

This command completely erases the configuration info for the Portmaster
and sets everything back to default values. The next time you do a !root
login, there will be no password.

This eliminates the possibility that the previous owner set something that
isn't obvious.
