Start upgrading them now in anticipation - no need to wait for the last
minute. That's why we gave a warning.

CODE BLOATED? Puh-leaze. ComOS is the least bloated of all comm server
software out there.

We have - and it is about done. We will not start having seperate builds -
other companies have done that and it becomes a nightmare for ALL involved.
Eventually the BASE COMOS will require 4MB - even with all the modules turned
off. That's how things go - there are too many 'minor additions' that can't
be made into seperate modules logically, and each of those adds a few K here,
and a few K there. Eventually you creep up on the limit of what 1MB can
do. We've been shipping 4MB since January, we managed to go for 3 years at
1MB at the same time other vendors were going 4->8->and up. When I worked
support at Xylogics one of the most common answers we had to give was "Oh,
you need more RAM."
>1) upgrade the memory - a hassle if you have more than a few units.
>2) run old code releases - and live with a mix of releases and
>features/bugs if you buy new Livingston gear like the PM3, possibly
>causing Radius and other support complications.
>3) go out and buy all new equipment.
We know all this, believe me, and we're willing to accept the consequences.
That's how it goes sometimes.
If we lose some business, then we'll accept that because we feel moving to
4MB is for the great good and prolongs the product life. If someone would
rather spend a few thousand on new HW instead of a few hundred on new RAM,
and have the issues of installing all new HW and not just the labor of putting
in new chips, then they are free to do it.
