Most application software should work regardless of kernel version. Only
software that interacts with the kernel or uses features not found in
older kernels or changed in news ones should cause trouble.

I recently upgraded a PM2 to 3.5 using whatever the latest tools
(pm_3.5.3_Linux.tar.gz) as of a few weeks ago. PM Console was very
unstable when running Netscape 3.0 at the same time...but if run in X
without Netscrape, it seems to work well enough.
