Yes it started off as freeware, when I had my own ISP I wrote pmmon to
solve some of the problems that we had. I put it out free. Several
people downloaded it and tried it. Then I started getting requests for
this feature and that feature. I started adding them. Answering email,
etc. Before long alot of my time was consumed by features and support.
I myself didn't feel that the 1.2 version was worth money, and I even had
people offer me money, and told them to hold on to it.

Anyways I completely reworte the polling engine on it to make it faster
with multiple term servers. I made it fully concurrent so it will work
well with several term servers. I eliminated the telnet in, logout
telnet in. It now telnets in once and stays connected doing its polls.

I also continued to add features (several of which I didn't need) that
were requested. I think that if any of you add up your time that you
have spent on solving some of these problems that pmmon solves you will
see that you have spent several hours on them. Far too many hours. And
you usually still have to tweak with what you have done.

Take a look at the number of hours that you have spent and multiple it by
your consulting rate. Is what you have worth that much? How much more
is it than the cost of PMMON.

Also think about pmmon as making you money. Depending on the rules you
configure and number of ports, you can increase your
user:modem ratio by 1 user per port. You can all add up the math on
that.

If there are any more questions or comments on pmmon please direct them
