I want to set up a web server so my friends can see my web page on my
computer, and ftp files, I have downloaded several different things, and
set them up, I am on a dial up connection account, and I'm not sure what
to do, I would like to figure this out, I have downloaded a trial web
server program, and been able to connect to it via my lan, but if I dial
up to the internet from another pc, that is totally seperate from the
lan, and I input the ip address of the web server, I get the message
that host is not reachable, can you please clue me in, as to what I have
to do, what software, what ip addresses, how to access a dialup
connected web server, what web server software, how to set it up, etc.
I am new to this, and I would like to learn. I am a lan/wan network
engineer, and I don't normally have trouble, I have an Intranet, with a
gateway to the internet with Wingate, but I would like to receive
incoming traffic, and host my web page here on my own server. I have
also written web pages, and set up accounts remotely, on some one elses
server but, I want to create domain names, and url's for my server, and
I don't understand how. If you could help, or refer to some pages on
the internet that would explain precisely, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
