Once upon a time Derek J. Balling shaped the electrons to say...
>Well, after hanging up from a sales rep @ Livingston who told me that the
>difference between the PM-3A and PM-3D was whether it was for North America

I brought this to the attention of the head of sales, in case he missed
it in the list.

To help those who might be confused
'A' means it is an AC power supply
'D' means it has -48V DC power - dual, redundant supplies, auto-sensing
'T' means it is a T1 based model
'E' means it is an E1 based model
'1' means single port
'2' means dual port

Now you can decipher all the PM-3 model numbers. :-)

>The MDM-PM3-8 cards that Livingston has... Are they 56k modems? I may have
>missed something here in recent posts if this has already been discussed
>(sorry if I'm being redundant). The web site indicates that they're only
>v.34 but it strikes me as odd that a product "this cool" only does v34...

The current cards are V.34+. Currently 33.6 down, 31.2 up - officially we
support 28.8 now, but those are what you can really get. We're still working
on 33.6 bidirectional.

The current plan is to start shipping new HW in June with Lucent code and
DSPs that support K56flex. This is a *FREE* HW upgrade, all you have to
do is register. And since we will be end of lifing the old cards when the
new ones come out I encourage anyone and everyone who has not registered for
the free upgrade to get out there and do so. Very simple - follow the
link from our homepage or go right to:

<URL:http://www.livingston.com/Forms/K56flex-register.html>

There will be a few releases that support both cards, but eventually
support for the old HW will be dropped.
