Not only initialization strings, but also the DUN, if using Win95... Like
disable software compression, etc etc.. also one of our users disabled
hardware flowcontrol and got it to work.. Hmmm

Otherwise, Livingston has noted that they originally did the code to spec.
Unfortunately, other modem manufacturers didn't, so they are in the
process of relaxing this strictness. If possible, waiting until June/July
for the new DSPs, then everything should be smooth.

Same here... thank goodness it's my brother who has this problem... ;)
But we've also had people on for 2-3 days continuously. Must be the
strict code that hiccups or something, as it's the clone modems that most
often have this occur...
