RIP on serial ports

Why do Portmasters always seem to come with RIP set to "on" on all of the
ports? Most admins probably don't notice (you can't tell with show sXX
even) and with it on users can inject and get routes from you. If you
aren't running RIP on the rest of your systems then the route can only
end up on the Portmaster thankfully.

Still, shouldn't it be set to off?
