I disagree and I think you are wasting money getting a TRUE UPS. Unless
you have older or very sensitive equipment, then a sag or surge in power
will not affect it much. Most PC's will run without trouble at 87 volts
and up to 200 volts.

Most SPS's use passive surge protection and kick in the battery only if
the power drops below a certain voltage.
Now I will have some people STRONGLY disagree with me, im sure, but after
16 years of experience with ups's, sps's and voltage regulators on all
kinds of equipment, I find that SPS's do just as well (unless you have
Zenith equipment). In fact, I had a Sola UPS that actually damaged
equipment because it generated a 131 volt square sine wave (not even
stepped). I believe most UPS's now generate a stepped sine wave.
I do like active voltage regulators BTW.
