Came FEXED overnight! Wow! Thanx Livingston. Did you guys make a deal to
send EVERYTHING fedex for some good rates? UPS tried that on us, but I
impolitely declined.
1. BIG and Heavy, good and bad but mostly good.
1/4th of inside is power supply.
2. Not wall mountable - or is there a kit?? THIS IS ESSENTIAL!
3. Power switch! Now why couldn't Ascend do that?
4. Did not come with network or cross-over cable as pipelines do. If it is
intended as a single or small # of user box, as the pipe 50 or 25 is,
perhaps they should maybe throw in a cross-over cable? ...nah forget it...
5. Did come with serial console cable - pipelines use a db9 serial which
BTW I like better than rj-45
6. Looks like they use an AT/LANTIC chip and an AMD what is that, 386-25se?
7. Lots of documentation and software I probably won't read or use.
#7 brings up an interesting point. Most of these things that I would buy
to resell would be to my customers where I would be setting them up and
servicing them. They wouldnt even know what they have (or cared).
I wonder if Livingston would sell a bulk package or a white-box version of
this without the 3 lbs of manuals?
