I think that would be a mistake...unless ComOS was extended such that the
integrated CSU/DSU was highly configurable via the command line (something
like the BAT EZ-FT1 terminal config/debug shell). When things don't go
smoothly, it's nice to be able to connect a terminal to the CSU/DSU and
see what it thinks is going on. The integrated one would also have to be
able to generate clock or get it from the loop so you could connect 2
identical units.

I'd like to know what the telcos are all smoking. HellSouth switched from
flat rate to metered (200 hours/month for the base price + $0.01/min/B
channel for extra hours, any use of B channels like voice or DOV counts!)
a few months ago...claiming ISDN was putting too much load on their
switches. That effectively makes PTP T1 cheaper than dedicated ISDN...go
figure.
