US Robotics Sportsters?

I've got a number of US Robotics Sportster, both 28.8 and 14.4, users who
are having problems connecting. The modems will handshake for about a
second and then it seems the PM3 simply kills the connection. None of my
other users are having this problem.

I have 3 PM3's running ComOS 3.5.1b8, i've run into the same problem with
ComOS 3.5.1b16, b13 and b11. I've tried a number of different init
strings, but the modems never handshake for long enough for it to seem to
make a difference, this also makes it difficult to debug. I've also tried
different port speeds, different setting on the dip switches on the
externals, with no difference. It's NOT every Sporter or US Robotics. I
don't have the ROM revisions for the ones I am having problems with. Is
there a problem with the ROM's possibly?

If someone has an init string they've found that fixes this, I will gladly
send them a case of beer. If someone at Livingston knows anything about
this, I would like an answer.

Thanks...
