PM3 and authentication problems

Please consider this email a possible lack of working knowledge
on the english language!

We currently are in our 3rd month of trying to connect various
router products (CISCO 76x, SHIVA Integrato 150 and 200's and
Pocket MultiCOM from Lightning, Switzerland) to PM3's.

We are used to this kind of networking - on SHIVA Integrator 500
(originally called Spider Systems Mezza) - using CLI to authenticate
routers dialling up via ISDN BRI to our PRI router. (CLI is Calling
Line Identification).

Livingston does not seem to know about this "feature" in ISDN - which
is the easiest way of authenticating a remote router on ISDN. Let me correct
that one - as far as we can read english - they do not write about the
possibility of using CLI for authentication purposes.

BTW: Modem users works fine - using RADIUS for authentication

BTW2: We do not use PAP, CHAP og any other authentication scheme
with modem users as well as routers. And with a considerable number of
routers (of whom we are not even sure whether they all support the
PAP,CHAP-thing) we are very reluctant to start experimenting with this...

If anyone did tackle this one - and is willing to share the secret -
please email us (either on this list or offline).

Best regards,
Walther
