We always had the recommendation for our users to buy the USRs and/or Zooms
V.34 - these two always connected to our modem pool without any problems. I
know, I know - by this post I'll probably be put into a "black" list of USR
fans - but honestly - we are running USR Sportsters on PM-2es for over a year
now and the only one time one of them overheated - all it took was a power
cycle.

And of course - all the customers are difficult to work with - especially the
ones with the Bullet modems (somebody who knows those would understand me) and
you know - we solved this problem by doing both - PM3 and the TotalLOSS (it
_is_ totalloss.binary.net :) Anyway - awhile ago - when people were discussing
the lab test done comparing PM3 and TC - I actually looked at all of this with
the smile as I can personally do a real "field" test with the same conditions
described by the lab - and.... prove nothing. One thing for sure - both "pros"
and "cons" in the test description are not applicable to field (we have the
exact CT1s - one coming to USR and one to PM3 - both are half loaded for now).
All I can tell - we have higher connect rate on the USR TC than on the PM3 -
measured both by cps and by reported transmit speed. And, of course, the nice
part about USR - is X2 - but unfortunately in our phone-land we don't see
higher than 50kbps connect rates on X2.

Anyway - just another view on the same long story.
