There are other ways to do it. And you needn't use ALL of the features
Merit puts in RADIUS.
This has been debated before, and unless there is new evidence (I don't
see that there is) it is our opinion that all advanced features like
this belong in the RADIUS server. The NAS should be kept as absolutely
simple as possible. This is a philsophy that has served Livingston and
our customers EXTREMELY well to date.

1. The user base in general actually. The majority of users like the
'fewer knobs - keep it simple, and working' approach.
2. Livingston.

1. We DO NOT add features that do not haver *significant* demand. Period.
2. We resist adding any feature that can be handle effectively by existing
systems.
3. Any additional knob to twist is considered a BAD thing. Period. That
is our entire design philosophy - if you want bells and whistles,
Livingston is the wrong company to go to. The fewer things that can be
set, the better. If it works for 99% of users as is - we are very willing
to give up the 1% to another vendor.
*KISS* is an overriding factor here.
I'm just giving it to you straight - the likelyhood of this being added
at this time is extremely low.

And you can do that with RADIUS. Today. Either with a server that is
out there as is, or with modifications to the source. And it would work
for ANY RFC compliant NAS. NOT just portmasters.
On change point. That is also a reason we view it is inappropriate for
the NAS.
With all the features we have on request, and considering this is one
of the ones with the lowest demand of all, it is just not likely to
ever happen.
