I agree -- it shouldn't be necessary. I tried it anyway (several times
over the past couple of days). Didn't help at all. Hehe, I'm _still_
waiting for PacBell to get the Data Monitor installed and call me back.
I've already bugged them several times this morning as it was supposed
to already be done.

The last PacBell tech I spoke with was convinced that the output of my
show arp frmW1 (it pointed to 0.0.0.0 as the address) was either a
"default" setting in my router or that was the setting of the router at
the other end.

Oh ho... PacBell just called me back. Now get this, he said that the
Data Monitor was installed earlier this morning and that we were going
to have to wait 24 hours for it to accumulate some data to analyze. I
promptly told him that in the last few minutes the Frame Link has come
back alive. Obviously they did something when they installed the Data
Monitor... I asked him to find out exactly what they did and let me know
so that I know what to tell the technician next time this happens.

If he actually calls me back I'll let you guys know the results. Thanks
to all for your suggestions!
