Re: (PM) syslog changes, require reboot?

I got mine set up the other day. Make sure you have your loghost set in
the PM3. I think you have to reboot if you change it. In other words,
if you do a

set loghost <the IP of your log host>
save all

Then I think you have to reboot to get it to take effect. I don't know
if you have to reboot after doing a 'set syslog ...', however. Mine was
already set up, so I really didn't have to do any reboots.

One thing you may want to check is if the syslog daemon on your log host
is set up to log from remote hosts. This was my problem. I had
everything set right in the PM3, and I had made the appropriate changes
to /etc/syslog.conf, but it wouldn't log (yes I had also SIGHUP'ed it).
It would create /var/log/pm_term, but it wouldn't log anything. After a
little investigation, I found the problem. I'm running Red Hat Linux
4.2 on my loghost, which, by default runs 'syslogd' without any
options. You have to specify 'syslogd -r' in order to get it to log
from remote hosts. Once I put in the '-r' in the syslog startup script,
it started logging.
