We have been running a Compaq4000 with 33.6K modems (firmware 3.1.11) =
attached to a Computone PowerRack for about 18 months. The =
initialization string that has worked best for us has been=20
AT&F$B115200-O4%U1Q2E0:T42=3D4*W
I'm not sure if that helps your particular situation.

Sometimes a line which stays connected for an hour or two gets
disconnected after 4 or 5 minutes of use.=20
Have checked the serial cables from Modem to PM and they seem to be=20
fine.
