The number V1456VQH indicates to me it is a common modem resold under
many brand names (in New Zealand modems with the same number V1456VQH
are sold under the Dynalink Brand). They also come in different -X and -R models
for TI and Rockwell chipsets. I think from memory they are manufactured by
Askey. The Rockwell ones are rock solid for us. Never run across the -X
model so I can't comment.

Oh I see http://www.micropc-la.com/modems.htm has links for Thunderlink
V1456QH-X and -R and they do point to Askey and they list numerous
models included the dreaded PCTel chipset so perhaps you need to tell us
which chipset the modem uses.
