The LT winmodems will work file if updated to 5.29 or later
firmware (5.39 is current IIRC), the earlier modem code for these units is
pre v.90 ratification. For the HCF units get the latest firmware, all the
Compaqs (even new ones) we see are running pre v.90 standard code.

With the latest code and a clean line they work ok, with a dirty customer
line locking them back a few k (with +ms= line) seems to work well.

As folks might have suspected, not much survives except roaches,
and they don't carry large enough packets fast enough...
