My stats were based on 85 days on 3 busy PM2s.
Measure each day's percentages for 3 PMs for 85 days and you have
3x85=255 samples. 85 days is 12 weeks and change.
Measuring each day independently lets me compare the variation in the
PM2/Courier stats with PM3 stats at my various sites.
When the abnormal termination rate is higher than normal for
a PM2 in town A, and
a PM3 in town A, and
a VPOP number in town A delivering calls to a PM3 in town B
all at the same time, I know it's not my PMs - something is wrong in
the phone system in town A. OTOH, if only one number or one box has
an unusual abnormal termination rate, then the cause is probably
something involving that box, or that box's line(s), etc.
It is a LOT more common for all the calls from town A, to all three
town A numbers, to have problems at the same time than it is for a
given box/number to have a problem.
Most of my users have a choice of at least two numbers so I can do
such crosschecks (and offer users a variety of modems).
