Different towns having problems different modems! We work with a computer store who has 2 locations and carying same identical modems! While one modem works in town#1, the same modem can not connect from town#2! Majority of the time, we see Motorola chipset Winmodems, Cirrus Logic chipset modems, and whatever Compaq is using! Now trying this Assured Access box, Cirrus Logic no longer has any problems (it could not even connect to PM3 before), Compaq units has the same result! Motorola chipset is having still some problems at a 50% rate! Which I am planning to fix that other 50% by setting up a secondary phone number and limiting the connect speed to 28.8, which will connect fine, however I don't have to deal with the customer and they at least connect!

No dual connects anymore (without running any sort of utility), I set the max session to 1 in the AA box, and can override through radius if I want to!
I assign a different IP block depending on called number, for our small ISP customers so it looks as they are not buying the service from us!
QOA: We have some free accounts which I don't want them to occupy ports if we have paying customers filling up ports, so if I have over 85% port utilization, those in the same group (Free Accounts) will get disconnected and will not be able to login unless threashold goes below 85%!
QOS is also available but I did not find a reason to use it yet!
The modems are Rockwell based k56flex/V.90.
Price is cheaper than (for the 96 modem config) 2 x PM3's and you also get a 10 port 10baseT and 2 port 10/100baseT switch or 4 port 10baseT router module along with it! They will negotiate to get your business! So you will get a good price! Also it is more like PM4 than PM3! I am actually going for a 336 modems with 16 T1/PRI module right now!

>:Anybody is interested in eval units, can get them for 30 days as well!
>
>Lucent (RABU) has an eval program too.
I don't think anybody will need eval from Lucent on this list:) One way or another we have their equipment right now! But my end has been suffering and losing customers because of the connect issues on analog connections! We run out of excuses to customers who are connecting through PM3's! I have PM3's at 2 locations going through 2 seperate Phone companies (1 uses ATT 5ESS and other uses DMS500) in 2 different states, and both are having similar problems running 3.8 which has been downgraded from 3.82 because of excessive disconnects on most customers!
Below is an email from one of my ex-customers received today after cancelling his account last month:
Gent,
I have recently switched from your isp, and i must say i am
glad that i did! i connect much higher now! i do not get disconnected
now! i have good customer support now. the price is ten dollars
cheaper for much more. you really should get your crap in order, it
is sad to see how lousy your service is, or atleast was.
Hector (Bope)
He is now connecting to Ascend TNT boxes as his ISP uses!
I am sure many of you get feedback similar, where as some of you don't!
I hope this helps Lucent to speed up whatever they will be doing to fix the modem code issues so they minimize their loss of business going different vendors! Once they had a very good product, they just need to catch that again!
Regards,
Gent
