Not necessarily: some Unix flavors will create the mail file if a message
comes in. With Exim, the lack of a home directory will throttle incoming
mail (at least here...YMMV). But you would probably rather forward it.

If you send email to your customers (eg "our connection to the world will
be down for 10 minutes sometime between 3AM and 3:30AM Sunday morning") you
will want to either forward mail to their WebTV account or arrange to send
those directly.
