What in the hell does this mean? Please use some form of stanard
terminology - like the actual command entered. I couldn't sort out what
you were trying to say.
The ether net address of the OR is 209.40.64.254, right? You aren't
trying to set a route on the OR with a GW of its own ether0 are you? You
cannot do that - period. You can never add a route with the GW being a
local interface in ComOS, the GW needs to be another IP in the network that
interface talks to.
If the ether0 IP is 209.40.64.254 with a /25, then the ether0 will talk to
209.40.64.128 through 209.40.64.255. Anything else would need to be routed
via some other gateway.

You know what I don't see, a "local NL 1 ether0" entry for the interface
itself. This should always be present. Did you reboot after changing your
ether0 settings and saving them? There does not appear to be any entry in
your routing table for the ether0 interface itself. Sounds like you may
have managed to munge that with the adding and deleting.
