This is a 3Com Model #5687-02 Faxmodem.

I went to the customer's home, verified his setup, and used a terminal
progam to check the modem. I've attached a text file showing ati1-9 from
this modem. Since he can connect to my competition, but not to me, I'm
really concerned about resolving this. As more and more people buy the
super-cheap "Winmodem" stuff, I envision more support problems and possible
loss of business.
