(PMOD) HSP Modems

Has anyone had any luck getting PCTel's HSP modems to connect reliably at
high speeds? These modems are installed in the eMachines as a Micromodem
HSP, a similar chipset is also used in the Modem Master 6000 included in
AST computers.

The only init string I have found so far that gets the modem connected at
all is N0S37=12, which sets the modem to a bad 33.6. When trying 56K, they
tend to hang or fail a lot.

Right now we are running Com OS 3.8.2, but will be upgrading to 3.8.2c2
very soon.
