For us upgrading to 3.8.2c2 broke *all* Lucent Winmodems with code below
5.39, upgrading to newest drivers works most of the time, the others need to
have the connect rate capped to compensate for the aggressive connect rate
on bad lines. USR winmodems also became broken but are easily fixed by
capping the connect rate. Overall 3.8.2c2 is working good for us, we were
one of the sites that could not load 3.8.2. The new code upgrade seemed to
only affect software driven modems, in almost every case it was due to
aggressive connect rates, capping the connect rate fixes the connection
issues and increases throughput. The problem now is convincing people that
throughput is more desirable than a high connect rate, some people do not
care what kind of throughput they get as long as it says connected at 50666
and yet public beatings are still illegal...
